Why mirrors make a difference when applying make-up
In order to make a good job of applying make-up, you need to be able to see what you're doing properly.
Ideally, you'd apply make-up in a room well lit with natural light — but let's face it, how often do we have that luxury, especially in England? Most of us have to make do with artificial light.
Trying to apply make-up using a mirror that's lit from above is tough. When the light source is above the mirror, it causes shadows to be cast downwards. Similarly, if the light source is not flush with the mirror then again, shadows will make it very difficult to judge how much or little make-up you need to apply.
When you see pictures of dressing rooms used by movie and theatre stars and professional make-up artists, you'll often see large mirrors featuring lots of little lights all around the perimeter. The reason for this is that these mirrors flood the face with light, so that shadows aren't an issue. If the lights are flush with the mirror itself then again, shadows cannot become an issue.
Take a look at our LED-lit mirrors and back-lit mirrors to see a selection of mirrors that will make applying make-up an absolute breeze.
